President Michael D. Higgins viewing my portrait of Samuel Beckett at the reception following the staging of "All That Fall" on Saturday 23rd March 2019 in Foxrock - the birthplace of Ireland's Nobel Laureate who received this honour 50 years ago. It also marks the 30th anniversary of his death.
Samuel Beckett was born on Good Friday, April 13th, 1906, and lived with his family at Cooldrinagh, Kerrymount Avenue, Foxrock, Co Dublin - a short stroll from Tullow Church where the performance took place and where the Beckett family attended Sunday service |

Dear Alan,
I would like to thank you so very much for your very kind donation of the Rory McIlroy Portrait as an auction item at the recent Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Ball for which we were the beneficiary charity.
The stunning and life-like sketch penned by your goodself raised €3,000 on the night. This wonderful donation has provided 187 hours of home nursing respite for our profoundly sick children - a truly wonderful gift!
Again many thanks for your generosity and I wish you continued success with your amazing talent.
With very best wishes,
Jonathan Irwin

Samuel Beckett's niece Mrs Caroline Murphy received the original of this Beckett Portrait as a thank you for officiating at a Foxrock Beckett event and the unveiling of a plaque in Tullow Church alongside the pew where the Beckett family regularly attended services
Thanks Alan for your beautiful drawing...it will make such a lovely gift for my brother-in-law's 50th birthday as it captured a precious memory for himself and his sister. Thanks also for going the extra mile to work under my time constraints. I will be highly recommending your work to my family and friends. Linda |
In memory of Elsa (White German Shepherd). A Christmas 2016 gift commission.
Hi Alan My apologies, I forgot to let you know how your portrait of Elsa was received. Well Mark was so thrilled with it. He said that your drawing brought her to life more than any photograph could, and he was actually very emotional when he first saw it. So thank you very much, we will treasure it. Happy new year Siobhán |
