This one-to-onecourse takes place over a series of 6 consecutive weeks at Alan's Studio in Foxrock Dublin 18. The aim of the course is to teach the principles and techniques of creating a lifelike portrait including the theory and practice to add depth, volume, atmosphere and life to portrait drawings. How to render realistic hair and create complex textures like skin with a layering approach, tonal value relationships, drawing details and working with different kinds of contrast to achieve a balanced visual interest. The student will draw from a photograph during the classes and the skills learned can be used for drawing any subject matter. The finished portrait will be framed on the last day ready for hanging at home.
