This course takes place over a series of 6 consecutive Saturdays from 10.30am to 1pm in the historic United Arts Club, 3 Fitzwilliam Street Upper, Dublin 2. Or at Studio 15 during the week daytime or evenings subject to availability. The aim of the course is to give adult participants at all levels of ability, the principles and techniques to create a lifelike portrait including the theory and practice to add depth, volume, atmosphere and life to portrait drawings. How to render realistic hair and create complex textures like skin with a layering approach, tonal value relationships, drawing details and working with different kinds of contrast to achieve a balanced visual interest. Participants will draw from photographs during the classes and the skills learned can be used for drawing any subject matter. Your finished portrait will be framed on the last day ready for hanging in your home.
